Now He Tells Us (Yet Another Washington Post Edition of Why Oh Why Can't We Have a Better Press Corps?)

Now he tells us. Today, David Ignatius says that he is shocked, shocked that the White House in 2003-2004 told the CIA to shut up and be happy:

The CIA at Rock Bottom: From late 2003 on, the agency was warning about the rise of the Iraqi insurgency and the failings of the administration's political strategy. In 2004 the CIA station chief in Baghdad was sending warnings every 60 days, in special messages known as "AARDWOLF" cables, about the deteriorating situation. This candid and largely correct reporting is said to have angered White House officials, who complained that the Baghdad chief was defeatist and not a team player. At the end of his tour, he was punished with a poor assignment.

Back in 2003-2004 however--when this was going on--David Ignatius was happy to shill for Bush by repeating and backing Bush-Cheney talking points:

How Kerry Can Pass the Iraq Test (washingtonpost.com): John Kerry faces one overriding question in this presidential campaign: Does he have the toughness and wisdom to lead the United States and the world in wartime? That's the line being pushed by the Bush campaign and its newly unleashed attack dog, Vice President Cheney. But it's the right question -- especially now, as we contemplate the disorderly, dangerous world that exists a year after President Bush rolled headlong into Iraq. So far, to my mind, Kerry is failing that test...

Fire David Ignatius. Do it now.

Impeach George W. Bush. Impeach Richard Cheney. Do it now.
